Our travel heart lies firmly in France | Kerri McConnel Guest Blog
September 9, 2020
We first travelled in a motorhome in 1995, a small frolic “across the ditch” as we say in Australia, to New Zealand.
From this moment, we knew we loved the freedom that this kind of travel brought us, but it wasn’t until we started travelling in Europe that the passion really took hold.
Roll forward to 2020, and our love for motorhome travel hasn’t dissipated. In fact, it’s only gotten more fervent with time. From Iceland to Portugal, Hungary to Slovenia, we’ve covered much of both Western and Eastern Europe. Our travel heart though lies firmly in France.
Motorhoming in France feeds our addiction of great food and wine, matched only by the stunning landscapes and the joy we feel when we are in the small villages. We rarely travel with a plan, although coming from Australia means we usually have a time limit.
France Passion was the icing on the cake for us. Not big fans of campgrounds or parking up next to heaps of people, France Passion offers wonderful locations, usually in places that you wouldn’t dream of staying. We also choose our locations based purely on the type of location (eg farm, vineyard etc), trying to stay at a different type every night.
As travelling foodies, there is nothing better than to pull up stumps for the day and kick back with a bottle of locally made wine, cheese, olives, cider or other fresh produce. More often than not, it will be the locally sourced France Passion food that becomes our dinner. Eating poorly just isn’t an option for us in France.
We’ve hired motorhomes regularly since 2012 from France Motorhome Hire and one day we know we’ll be knocking on the door of Euro Camping Cars for a change, ready to buy a motorhome in France to continue our journey.
