Is this the perfect motorhome for a couple?
September 13, 2018
The last of our compact, luxury, Knaus 550MF motorhomes are about to become available to buy. Perfect for couples, these absolutely gorgeous little motorhomes have been the backbone of our “Prestige” rental fleet and they brilliantly bridge the gap between a campervan (van conversion) and a motorhome.

At just under 6 metres they are the same length as your average campervan but the clever internal layout and slightly higher/wider dimensions of the accommodation area make them feel palatial by comparison to a van. They are also truly comfortable with lots of luxury touches and high quality finishes (as you would expect from Germany’s top motorhome manufacturer).
Walk-through tour of the Knaus 550MF
As you can see from the photos in this blog, our clients and indeed the ECC team have been enjoying the Knaus 550MF all over France this summer and our Operations Supervisor, Sally has even made her own video to explain why she has been seduced by this tiny but exceptional motorhome. The 550MF literally fits in anywhere and goes where larger motorhomes cannot. You can even park it in most regular car parking spaces making it a very convenient way to travel. Some of our photos show where the ECC team and our rental clients have been parking our 550MF’s this summer to give you a feel for just how versatile they are.

Despite its petite dimensions, the 550MF is ideal for longer duration trips as the cunning interior offers storage solutions throughout. Comfortable, swivelling seats, a decent sized fridge/freezer and three ring hob add to the home comforts making it suitable for extended use. Other features which confirm the 550MF’s pedigree as a European tourer are great fuel economy (it is aero-optimised and does an incredible 11kms to the litre), a wide track chassis for stability and the effortless drive of the 130 BHP Fiat turbo diesel engine in such small, light chassis. Needless to say it is low emission compliant and welcome in even the fussiest of the new European low emissions zones.
The 550MF has been superseded this year by the 590MF (also a fabulous, compact motorhome but 40cms longer and a therefore a little more internal space and storage). Knaus will not be making any more 550MFs so this might be your last chance to get your hands on an immaculate, recent model.

The ECC team have really enjoyed using the 550MF’s this summer and are quietly hoping you overlook them and buy something else so we can carry on using them. However, all good things must come to an end and we will let them go to good homes so get in touch and be prepared to provide character references if you want one! Just as with any of our current sales stock, you can secure a 550MF with just a 10% deposit now and pay the balance when you collect it in the new year if you are planning to own a motorhome for a 2019 European trip.
